POWER OF MANTRAS (KATHAS)
Throughout our history, cultures believed in the sacred power of mantras (kathas - generally used in South East Asia such as Thailand, Cambodia, Burma) and have believed that uttering certain mantras (kathas), one could control the external world or even control the unseen forces. There is real power in the repetition of a mantra (katha) as a form of meditation. The power of mantra (katha) repetition can quieten the mind, provide a refuge in trying or difficult times and can help you in developing, fearlessness. Repetition and concentration are the vital keys in achieving mantra (katha) siddhi or fructiification of the mantra (katha), gaining immense psychic power? What is Mantra (Katha)? The word "man" means the mind, "tra" means deliverance. Sound vibrations that delivers the mind is called mantra (katha). If the mind can be quieten the same mind becomes a servant, if not it becomes our Master and hence, dictates according to its Will. The mind absorbs the conditions of ourselves and the conditions surrounding us.
Power of mantras (kathas) depends on the surroundings and also with the chanter's concentrated mind. Chanting near the sea or river, the power of the mantras (kathas) are about 10 times more than in the house. Chanting on a mountain it has about 100 folds power. Chanting inside a temple, the mantra (katha) vibrations get amplified about a thousand folds. Mantras (Kathas) are like sound transmitters into the universe. It attracts a particular deity (demi-god or even monk/asectic) vibrating at a certain spiritual dimension/speed. When we chant "Om Vinayaka" it attracts the vibrations surrounding the deity of Ganesha. Like the power of magnet attracting a particular metal so does the power of mantras (kathas) attracts a certain principle deity or lersi or monk. Spending a few hours chanting mantras (kathas) may be boring but it can have a remarkable effect. Power of the mantras (kathas) work on the brain in a particular way to elevate us to a spiritually altered state. First it changes our thoughts' patterns, then it starts sending the vibrations to the universe.
Everything in nature is in motion or in vibration. Our ancients masters, the Lersi, Siddhas and Rishis had grasped intuitively what modern science has only managed to confirmed in this century, namely that all creations is based on vibratory energy. Every atom and every molecule in solid matter and everything that we tend to see as fixed and static is actually in collective motion. Their movement and interaction create a subtle form of sound which reverberates throughout the rest of creation. The power of mantra (katha) are composed in such a way that their subtle vibrations act upon our own molecules, resounding in the ether, the very fabric of creation. The space is not emptyas we had previously perceived. Space or akasha is the subtlest of the 5 elements. Space or ether is the ultimate container of the other elements and the universe itself. Every atom has its home in a molecule, every molecule in a cell, every cell in a body, every body in a greater body, such as our earth, in the solar ether, the solar system in a galaxy, the galaxy in a universe, the untimate Space. When we chant it vibrates the etheric elements sending powerful waves into the space. And into a particular planet the vibration travels, and ultimately to the deity or Lersi or the enlightened monk.
The power of mantra (katha) is like spiritual food, it laters our brain grooves, it awakens our creative process and nourishes our spirit. while habitual or agitated thinking patterns are released. In the process, we discover the silence behind the sound. With continuous mantra (katha) chanting a centre of devotion is created in the subconscious mind. At the time of death, it accompanies the subtle body. Therefore, chanting can continue even after death. This protects us in the afterlife and helps us gain momentum in the subtle planes of existence.
Mantras can be used for several purposes, for material gains or for spiritual development. It also includes curing of disease, warding off evil, attaining liberation, gaining wealth, influencing others, acquiring powers and at the lowest and meanest level, harming others. The power of mantra can be concentrated on a particular organ to help heal it. We can chant the mantras (kathas) to attract the forces of evil, the demons to do our negative works. Mantras (Kathas) can attract the devas, deities or the demons depending on the vibrations of the mantras. It is they who carry out the physical works for us. Subtle energies are more powerful than the visible matter.
A mantra (katha) can be chanted aloud, silently or mentally. The trained mind can chant the mantras silently in the mind. Silent chanting is the most powerful. Focusing the mantra (katha) the sound waves into our body, we change the DNA structure. Imagine a ray of white light entering the chakras and focusing the mantras or imagining the sound ways entering into it. Mantras (Kathas) can be chanted into the chakras 108 times each for a particular chakra. One can start from the foundation or nuladara chakra and slowly travels upwards. Repetition of mantras (kathas) into our body will transformus into higher vibrational state. Mind is always swaying and the best way to bring it under control is by focusing the mantras (kathas) into our body or the organs for healing purposes or into the 7 charas for overall health and prosperity. Mantras can also be chanted in beads, for concentration and counting.
WHY TAKE A MANTRA FROM A GURU?
If a Mantra (Katha) is taken from a book or from the internet, the results will not be the same as if one received directly from a Guru. This is because the guru has been initiated into his personal lineage, moreover, the human guru has attained a certain spiritual level and has kept the mantras (kathas) alive. The guru initiates the disciple and gives the mantra (katha) - that is the power of the mantra (katha) and helps the disciple mystically. But a Guru who can helps an aspirant spiritually in the mantra meditation and other forms of spiritual development, is called an "Upa Guru". Wizard Wong has been appointed as a Successor in his lineage is is awarded the title as an "Upa Guru"
